This is unprecedented (most despised COVID word), he was the backup for nearly half the season. Williams is the most dynamic player I've seen since Kyler Murray (also an Oklahoma Heisman winner).
Not only is this incredible, but Caleb Williams vaults all other Big 12 candidates. This includes Breece Hall ISU Running Back, Bijon Robinson Texas Running Back, and Brock Purdy ISU Quarterback.
As much as I hate seeing Oklahoma find life behind Williams, it does bring a new level of intrigue to the Heisman race. This brings a level of attention for that hasn't been there since Lamar Jackson won it at Louisville. I never thought Jackson would win because he wasn't from one of big blue blood schools. I thought it was a major injustice when both Randy Moss, and Troy Davis did not win the Heisman because they were from the wrong schools. That's when I quit following the Heisman race, and lost overall interest - it became a popularity contest versus "The Best Football Player".
